Episode #24 - The Dear Diary Show

Thanks for waiting for this show...you wanted the best, and you've got'em. Steve has a nasty sore on his nose. Tracy protects Dave from old men on the golf course. Steve offends minorities with disabilities while Dave has a few movie posters. Steve's kid could find his way to Hooters. The boys then break out the diaries of a very very disturbing family that Dave found in an antique store on the Oregon Coast. What are you doing still reading this? Go listen to the show already!

All this and much more!

Episode #24 Postponed

Don't panic. It's okay. We beg your understanding as we'll need to postpone the show until later in the week. I don't want to brag but (yes, I do want to brag) Episode #24 will be a pretty good show and jammed full of all the lovable nonsense you've come to expect from us including Steve offending another segment of our society.

Stay tuned and thanks for your patience.

Who wants some filler?

As mentioned yesterday, this week's show will be delayed by one day, due to an interview were doing for it. In the meantime, spread the word about Dave and Steve, but only after watching the awesome intro to Hardcastle and McCormick:

Upcoming Schedule

Loyal Members of the Pile,

We've got a great show lined up for tonight, but please be aware that posting of said show will be delayed by a day this week. This is due to the fact that we have a great interview lined up that we're going to record on Tuesday and roll into the show as well. So look for show 24 to go up sometime around Wednesday.

If you're wondering what to do with yourself between now and then, might we suggest spreading the word about this show? We're always looking for new members of The Pile, so anything you can do to spread the joy that is The Dave and Steve Show is much appreciated. You could also send us an email to let us know what you think of our little podcast, but please make sure you always put the words "argar largar" in there somewhere, so that we know you're a "Pile Faithful."

Along with tonight's amazing show, we also have yet another interview lined up for next week's show as well! Sitting down with us will be Frank Pino, from the Massachusetts band, Waltham. Frank is going to fill us in on what he's been up to, and if you're not quite sure who he is or have never heard of Waltham, we highly suggest you check him and his band out.

Waltham Myspace

So look for Show 24 on Wednesday, and another great show next week!

And remember... keep walking the walk.

P.S. - If you'd like to play a fun drinking game based on this post, try taking a drink for every instance of me typing the word "show." Honestly... I really shouldn't have been allowed to graduate from any school.

So get this...

Last night on the show I called out that Estelle Getty, famed "Golden Girl" was dead. Steve countered and said he believed her to still be alive.

Well it turns out that Steve was right... up until 5:30am this morning. According to the story making its way around the interwebs:

Estelle Getty of 'Golden Girls' dies at 84

By BOB THOMAS – 1 hour ago

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Estelle Getty, the diminutive actress who spent 40 years struggling for success before landing a role of a lifetime in 1985 as the sarcastic octogenarian Sophia on TV's "The Golden Girls," has died. She was 84.

Getty, who suffered from advanced dementia, died at about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday at her Hollywood Boulevard home, said her son, Carl Gettleman of Santa Monica.

"She was loved throughout the world in six continents, and if they loved sitcoms in Antarctica she would have been loved on seven continents," her son said. "She was one of the most talented comedic actresses who ever lived."

I want to go on record now to say that I, Dave of the Dave and Steve Show, did not in fact kill Estelle Getty just to prove Steve wrong. This is one of the most crazy coincidences I have ever been a part of, but I would never kill one of my beloved "Girls" just to avoid having to admit a mistake.

Now the A-Team on the other hand... I'd totally kill one of those bastards on a dare.

Show 23 Links

Steve interrupted Show #23 (download below) to send Dave a link, which caused a bit of on-air turmoil. If you'd like to see the link Steve sent, which turned out to be a video of his band performing, check out the video below:

We also had Jeff from Bad Ass Builders on the show, and wanted to pass on his link for anyone thinking about having a website built, be it for their personal use or for their business:

Episode #23 - The Andy Dick Show

Steve took in the Dark Knight and loved every minute of it, Dave doesn't give beer to children and looks disgusted at people who do, Tracy camped in the Redwoods and lived like a nomad, Steve hates San Francisco as much as Dave and Tracy hate the Oregon Coast, Dave went to E3 and met The Miz and got to see Dane Cook wander through, The Who and Coldplay don't rate high enough for a tired game tester, the butterflies weren't real, Steve thinks Michael Savage is an asshat, Jay Leno is out, Conan is in, Jimmy is on the interwebs only, Jackson went on a rampage in a personalized monster truck, a Barenaked Lady is in serious trouble, Andy Dick yet again lives up to his name, bullet-proof vests have nothing on The Bible and a good watermelon, people drink more when Steve's band plays, Steve interrupts the show to send Dave a link of his band playing music, footless bodies and bodyless feet don't go hand in hand, Jeff from BadAssBuilders.com joins the show for an interview, and the boys finish off the night by playing an 80s theme song trivia game!

It's our longest show to date, but also our best, so make sure you tune in and listen to all the fun!

Tonight on the big show...

Tonight's show should be one of our best yet. We're going to have news and entertainment headlines, in which Steve will give us his thoughts on "The Dark Knight." We'll also chat about Andy Dick's latest run-in with the law (and underage boobies), and Rampage Jackson's decision to run from the law... in a giant monster truck with his face painted on the side.

To go along with that, we've got what is probably the only website developer we've ever heard of who gets his own fanmail, as Jeff from BadAssBuilders.com sits down with the show for a chat. He's got some high-profile clients, so maybe we'll get some dirt out of him too!

Finally I'm going to try and get my tail in gear and get a trivia game lined up for the guys where they try to guess 80s TV theme songs.

It should be an entertaining show and ready for download sometime on Tuesday, so make sure you tune in!

Episode #22 - The Old Friends Show

Steve explains his whereabouts, Tracy is MIA for the first time since the show's birth, Dave is heading to Los Angeles but managed to see WALL-E before he left, Steve is a horrible guesser, Justin is the newest member of the show and will be the Producer/Booker, Steve talks about Brad and Angelina's twins even though he doesn't want to, The Who is half dead but somehow still alive, Jesse wants Obama's nuts cut off, a kid gives cops LSD cookies, and Justin announces his first booking for the show!

It's a shorter-than-normal (yet jam-packed) show that you don't want to miss!

The Upper Crust

We just can't speak highly enough of our new "house band," The Upper Crust. We won't bug you too much more about these guys, but we wanted to drop one video in your lap, so that you can see what they're all about and realize why we didn't stop beggin until they agreed!

Introducing the Official Dave and Steve Show Band!

Not that we have a house band or anything, but I got official permission today to use music from rock band, The Upper Crust, for our intro and outro music!

You may have heard The Upper Crust on Guitar Hero 2, or in various other capacities, and we sure are excited to have their music as part of our show! If you haven't checked them out, swing on over to their official site and have a listen.

The new intro and outro will be part of the show very soon, and we'll be adding a permanent link to the band on the right bar there. It's the least we can do.

And just so you know, I got that "official permission" from Lord Bendover himself.

Yeah... the show is getting that big.

Review: Motley Crue - Saints of Los Angeles

In what I hope will be a continuing tradition around here, I'd like to kick off our first ever "Dave and Steve" show review of a music CD! We hope to do this more albums, TV Shows and Movies. Keep in mind that these reviews will not be a combined opinion of everyone on the show, but rather one host's opinion, be it Tracy, Steve or myself. That being said, you may occasionally see a "Second Opinion" from one of the other guys on the reviews, especially in the event that they don't agree with the review.

So without any more blabbering, here is my take on Motley Crue's latest CD, "Saints of Los Angeles":

I've often said how much I despise the term "meh," which is so widely used on the interwebs these days. It's such a dismissive way to end an argument, especially if you're losing. The conversation usually goes like this:

Wanker: Black is white!
Douche: Actually it isn't. Black is a combination of all colors, and the opposite of white. White is quite reflective, where as black tends to absorb, be it heat or color. That's why you've never heard of a "white hole."
Wanker: meh

All this being said, after listening to the latest offering, "Saints of Los Angeles," from Motley Crue, and the first by all-original members in 10 plus years, I'm left with just one feeling:

meh

From what I understand, this album was written by Sixx and his friends from his side project Sixx A.M. (get it?). The result is a boring, bland, and frankly uninspired effort. The biggest missing element to me are the hooks that made Motley so popular in the late 80s and early 90s. Where is the hook of "Kickstart My Heart," "Same Ol Situation," or "Girls, Girls, Girls?" There just aren't any moments on "SOLA" that wind up getting stuck in your head. I couldn't sing one song to you from the album, outside of the first self-titled single, despite having listened to the album many times over.

The other problem I had with this release is how desperate the song writing team seems to be when it comes to proving that Motley Crue are still "rebels." Putting the word "f*cker" in a song title, or constantly talking about how "white trash" they are just makes Motley feel exactly like what they are, which is a bunch of old men trying to stay relevant in today's music market.

I have nothing against Motley Crue, and will gladly go out and see them with Buckcherry this summer, but "SOLA" just didn't work for me. It feels like an album full of songs that would have been filler tracks on "Dr. Feelgood."

Oh and just in case you weren't aware, Motley Crue would also like to let you know that "Chicks = Trouble." I'd also like to add that "Boobs = Attractive," "Fire = Hot," and "Saints of Los Angeles = meh."

Final Score: 2.5 out of 5
